A massive fire broke out on Friday at around 11:30 am behind New Town City Center 2 in a shack shop, causing significant damage to many shops in the vicinity. The fire drew the attention of Ecopark police and two fire engines, along with one NKD water tanker, which quickly rushed to the scene to contain the blaze.
Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that the fire started due to the explosion of a gas cylinder, although the exact cause is still under investigation. The situation was swiftly brought under control thanks to the efforts of local residents who quickly laid pipelines from nearby houses to control the spread of the fire.
The fire engines arrived on the scene shortly thereafter and were able to extinguish the flames. The damage to the shops was significant, but there were no reports of any casualties.
